Nature Journal

Our Nature Journal is designed to support the practice of observation, reflection, and narration in the Charlotte Mason tradition. Thoughtfully structured and beautifully simple, it gives children a consistent place to record what they see in the natural world while developing the habit of attention.

This 120-page journal is part of our Heritage Collection and features a classic leather-look cover paired with a Charlotte Mason quote on the back: “Never be within doors when you can rightly be without.”

Inside, each nature study entry is designed as a two-page spread. On the left page, students will find guided prompts and structured space to support careful observation, including fields for:

It reminds me of…

These prompts gently guide children to slow down, observe closely, and form thoughtful connections—building the foundation for confident narration.

On the right page, a blank space is provided for sketching, labeling, or free-form journaling. This balance of structure and openness allows each child to engage with nature study in a personal and meaningful way.

At the back of the journal, students will find two additional features designed to support year-long observation:

A Phenology Wheel for tracking seasonal changes
A Bird List for recording sightings throughout the year
